Parish low-cost housing program

This complex of 15 residential units of various configurations from one to three bedrooms is situated at 57 Babiana Street Alexandra Hills.

The project had its genesis in late 1989 and in October 1993 construction commenced. In May/June 1994, the first tenants took up residence. The project was financed by a government grant with St Anthony’s Parish contributing the land.

Padua Place is administered by a committee of representatives (photo below) responsible to St Anthony’s Catholic Parish Alexandra Hills, The Trustees of the Corporation of The Archdiocese of Brisbane and The Queensland Department of Housing as co-funders.

The committee of directors are all volunteers and all surpluses from the operation of Padua Place are applied for either maintenance of structures and provision of amenities or a sinking fund.

As a community housing provider, Padua Place residents have rental conditions similar to those in state run community housing. No bond is required with yard maintenance services being provided plus the ability to be able to contact a designated maintenance coordinator and committee members as required.
